Looking for ways to entertain bored kids at home! (One)

Super Easy Playdough Recipe ❤️

I remember when my children were small. Two boys and two girls, (three under three, with a later addition!). They would get really fed up and bored on wet days when they couldn't play outside in the garden, especially during the winter months or on rainy summer days. I’d be pulling my hair out looking for ways to entertain them because I just needed some time to catch up with all the things I had to do. The activity needed to be something I could create with items I had on hand, right then and there.

One of the activities that always worked for us was homemade playdough.❤️

We'd make it together, taking turns stirring the mixture on the hob (we were always very careful). Sometimes I didn’t have food colouring, but to be honest, they didn’t care. The dough would be left to cool slightly and given to them warm—they absolutely loved it. (This had a real calming effect on Daniel who was always wound like a top!)

I would say it gave me well over an hour of free time. I’d always be nearby for ideas, drinks, and separating the occasional squabble, but it was a lifesaver!

Here’s the recipe I used—it’s never let me down. x
